      Resident, 22, facing drug allegations

JACKSON — A 22-year-old Jackson man has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to information provided by police, on Jan. 24 at about 5:10 p.m. Jackson police officers responded to the area of Bluebell Drive in the Sixty Acres townhouse development on complaints from residents of possible drug dealing activity.

Jackson police Sgt. Steven Laskiewicz said a vehicle description of a beige Chevrolet Caprice was given to the responding officers. The driver of the vehicle had left the area prior to the arrival of the officers.

A short time later, Police Officer Mary Nelson located the suspect’s vehicle on Bennetts Mills Road and conducted a traffic stop. As she approached the car, the driver appeared to be hiding something, according to police.

When the driver, who was subsequently identified as Malick Olden, of Bluebell Drive, was removed from the vehicle, nine small bags containing a substance believed to be marijuana were located on his person and two additional bags containing that substance were found in his car, according to police.

Officers Jeremy Felder and Michael Goels assisted in the arrest of Olden, who was placed under arrest and charged with motor vehicle equipment violations and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

After further investigation by Detective Frank Mendez, a search was conducted of Olden’s residence.

Police said that during the search of his home, 17 plastic bags containing a substance believed to be marijuana were recovered, along with a digital scale and a large quantity of small bags.

Olden’s vehicle was impounded for forfeiture proceedings. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Olden was processed and released pending court, according to police.
