Mr. Mayer, 69, of the Toms River section of Dover, formerly of Sayreville, died Feb. 13, 2010, at home. He was co-owner of the Sayreville Bar for 45 years and also worked as the bookkeeper for Mayer Catering, Sayreville. He was predeceased by his parents, Bela and Ann Mayer. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Shurina Mayer; three children and their spouses, William and Sharon Mayer of Jackson, Raquel “Kelly” and Mark Delgado of Sayreville, and Michelle and Matthew De Mild of Salt Point, N.Y.; a brother, Walter Mayer, and his wife, Donna Jeanne, of the Morganville section of Marlboro; a sister, Ann Weber, and her husband, Kenneth, of North Port, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Mary O’Halloran, Liz Shurina, Diane Shurina and Debra Campanile; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Cremation was private. Arrangements were under the direction of Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin section of Sayreville.
