Resident says Sharp has the credentials to serve on school board

Iam very excited that Jeff Sharp has decided to run for a seat on the Board of Education in Jackson. Jeff has been a resident of Jackson for 10 years and has had three children (one currently) attend the Jackson school system. In addition to that, Jeff has served the Howell K-8 School District as the director of buildings and grounds for 10½ years.

I have worked with Jeff on the board of one of the largest parents’ associations affiliated with JacksonMemorial High School for the past five years. I have witnessed Jeff’s attention to detail in general and his vast knowledge of the workings of school budgets.

Jeff is not afraid to ask tough questions and will wait patiently for the answers. What he will not do is look away or be satisfied with a general answer. He will be a great asset to the Board of Education as they grapple with new budgetary challenges such as declining state aid, higher costs of benefits and increasing school enrollment.

His love and enthusiasm for the students in the school system while being a taxpayer himself will allow an ability to balance the issues every resident of Jackson faces — how to give our children an excellent education and prepare them for their future endeavors without making it unaffordable to live here.

Jeff will be a breath of fresh air as he brings his experience, his knowledge and his love of our town to an audience where he can truly make a difference.
