Lecture to focus on foot, ankle care
JACKSON — Dr. Jasen Langley of Affiliated Foot and Ankle Center will speak on the topic of foot and ankle care 11-11:45 a.m. May 18 at the Melvin Cottrell Center for Senior Citizens and the Disabled, Don Connor Boulevard.
“We are eager to have a positive impact on the communities that surround us,” Langley said. “People do not think about foot and ankle pain until it interferes with their quality of life.”
The doctor will discuss preventative steps that can be taken to protect the feet and ankles. Following his talk, Langley will provide free foot and ankle screenings for those who are interested.
The lecture will cover basic foot and ankle care such as cutting toenails and what creams are safe to use, to the more serious aspects of foot and ankle care for individuals who have diabetes or arthritis.
“The goal of this presentation and providing the foot screenings is to educate our community on how to avoid serious complications of the feet and ankles,” said Langley.
“People tend not the think of their feet until there is a problem, but your feet are like the tires on a car, if you get a flat tire, you cannot get anywhere you want to go,” he said.
Lunch will be provided by the senior center. Individuals who are planning to attend the May 18 lecture are asked to RSVP by calling the senior center at 732-928-2313.
