The Howell United Soccer Club announces 2010 travel soccer tryouts for the fall 2010 season for the Boys U-10 Division (date of birth between Aug. 1, 2000 and July 31, 2001). Because of increased interest in the club, the Boys U-10 Division will form a new team in addition to the existing Howell United Hawks. Tryouts for both teams will be held on May 19 and May 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Griebling Elementary School, Havens Bridge Road, Howell. Rain date for the tryouts is May 26. The tryouts are open to residents of all towns. The teams will play a regular season schedule and participate in soccer tournaments. Questions can be directed to Coach Ron Ganter at 732-740-8222.

Howell Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201 will hold its 26th annual charity golf tournament on May 24 at the Pine Barrens Golf Club, Jackson. This year’s event is honoring the memory of John Gorr, who passed away suddenly last year. The entry fee is $165. Proceeds will benefit the Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Catholic Charities, and local charities. Details: Steve, 732-901-1954.

Friends of Dottie’s House will hold its 11th annual Golf Classic at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood, on June 7. All golfers will receive a pair of Nike golf shoes as a gift and will enjoy a steak barbecue luncheon, hand-rolled cigars, cocktail hour and a gourmet dinner with open bar. The event will also feature a silent and live auction consisting of sports memorabilia. Registration for an individual golfer is $250. The Jackson Soccer Club will be holding tryouts for a U-7 boys travel team. Players need to be born between Aug. 1, 2003 and July 31, 2004. The dates of the tryouts are May 18 and May 25. Tryouts will be held at the Jackson Justice Complex Field 3. The tryouts will start at 6 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. On the first night of tryouts players need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the tryout to register.
