      Jaguars pointing to state track meets
           Depth helped the Jackson Memorial High School boys track and field team win the NJSIAA Group III indoor track and field championships in February, and it helped the Jaguars claim their second Ocean County track and field team championship in three years on May 8. The meet was held at Neptune High School, Neptune.

      Lions claim B South baseball crown
           The Jackson Liberty High School baseball team lost its Ocean County Tournament opener to Lacey, 5-4, on May 8, but the Lions still have two other tournaments to prepare for and the Shore Conference B South Division championship they won last week in only their third season of varsity baseball.

      Late surge has Rebels looking for big finish
           Once again, the Howell High School boys lacrosse team has proved to be a second-half-of-the-season squad. The Rebels started slowly this season, due in large part to the turnover from graduation, but they have put things together in the second half of the regular season to qualify for postseason play.

            The Howell United Soccer Club announces 2010 travel soccer tryouts for the fall 2010 season for the Boys U-10 Division (date of birth between Aug. 1, 2000 and July 31, 2001). Because of increased interest in the club, the Boys U-10 Division will form a new team in addition to the existing Howell United Hawks.

      FISH ON
           Irecently received an email asking me if an 8-pound largemouth bass was a big deal or not. My immediate reaction was any freshwater fish at 8 pounds is a big deal. Any 8-pound largemouth bass caught in Manalapan by a 13-year-old is an even bigger deal. Kevin Thompson is an avid fisherman from Manalapan.
