National Dance Day is July 31. National Dance Day was created by television producer Nigel Lythgoe of “So You Think You Can Dance” to promote good health everywhere through dance, well care and fitness. Everyone is invited to come and dance, watch, or just enjoy a free ice treat at West Side Dance, 100 West Veterans Highway, Jackson, from noon to 3 p.m.
There will be a talent contest open to all children and teens, free raffles, free registration for new students signing up for fall dance class, and free giveaways.
To learn the National Dance Day dance, go to www.dizzyfeetfoundation.org.
To enter the talent contest, learn the dance, or for more information, go to the website at www.westsidedancestudio.com or call 732-987-6543. The participating businesses are West Side Dance, Intrinsic Chiropractic, Century Dental, Jackson Orthodontics and Retro Fitness.
Robert Kane, the senior partner of Training Unlimited and president of Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR), recently presented a check for $1,000 for the LADACIN Network to Patricia Carlesimo, the executive director of LADACIN, a nonprofit organization that provides education, therapy, social, residential and support services for people with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities, including the Lehmann School in Lakewood.
The donation was made possible because at each meeting throughout the year, JSAHR contributes $1 for a designated charity for each member attendee. The charity is chosen annually from a pool of JSAHR members who work for a nonprofit 501(c)(3).
Kane said JSAHR is a Superior Merit Award Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management in part because of the charity work it does.
Last year, Catholic Charities was the designated beneficiary.
For this year, MonmouthCares Inc., a private nonprofit agency that is part of the New Jersey Division of Behavioral Health Services System of Care for Children, will receive the JSAHR donation.
