            The fifth annual AMC golf outing, sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will be held Sept. 14 at the Woodlake Country Club, Lakewood. The perperson fee of $150 will include an embroidered golf shirt, greens fee, cart, lunch on the course and a hot dinner buffet. Shotgun start is at 1:30 p.m.

      Hawks begin soccer season ranked No. 15
           On the heels of last fall’s unprecedented success, the Monmouth University men’s soccer team has been ranked No. 15 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2010 preseason national rankings. The Hawks ended the 2009 season ranked No. 13 when they were 18-2-2 and defeated the University of Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

      Jaguars aim to crack .500 record
           The Jackson Memorial High School football team will try to get off to a fast start when the 2010 season opens for the Jaguars with a 7 p.m. Sept. 11 kickoff at Manalapan. “We have been moving the ball well on offense, and the defense has done very well,” said coach Mike Smith. “We were not moving the ball as well last year, but the defense did well.”

            Joint Base McGuire- Dix-Lakehurst is scheduled to host the 2010 “Beast of the East” Mud Run on Sept. 11. The Mud Run is a day of challenges, competitions, creative costumes and offers a good excuse to play in the mud, rain or shine, according to organizers. This event is open to the public.
