      Warriors’ new coach is a familiar face
      Katie Nicholson is now at helm of New Egypt’s varsity field hockey team
           Katie Nicholson, who has been the girls lacrosse coach at New Egypt High School for the past three seasons, said she will not be looking over her shoulder when she starts her first season as the Warriors’ field hockey coach in the team’s Sept. 9 opener at home against Holy Cross.

            Jackson Travel Basketball Mid-Monmouth will hold tryouts for the fall/winter Mid- Monmouth leagues during the week of Sept. 20. The tryouts are for Jackson residents only, ages 9-13. All tryouts are held at the Holman School gymnasium. Tryout dates and times for the various age groups are as follows: boys 9, 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and 6-7:30 p.m. Sept.

      Warriors’ goal: Play tough for 48 mins.
           Dylan Wills takes over at quarterback for a New Egypt High School football team that is welcoming back most of its starting lineup from 2009, when the Warriors were 2-8. New Egypt will open the 2010 season on Sept. 10 at Maple Shade in a 7 p.m. contest.

      Lions look forward to season
           Although the Jackson Liberty High School field hockey team lost 12 players from last year’s 17-4 Shore Conference A Central Division championship team, Lions coach Lori Burns is confident that her team will have success in 2010. The Lions are now playing in the Shore Conference C South Division.
