Returning soldiers to get special welcomes

Jackson Township Mayor Michael Reina wants to welcome home Jackson residents returning from overseas deployment with a welcome-home surprise. He is asking those who have family members serving in the military overseas or those who know of a friend or neighbor who has a family member serving overseas to send information to his office as soon as possible. When available, the Jackson Police Department will escort these heroes to their destination once they have entered the township.

“We can’t think of a better way to say ‘Welcome home’ and thank them for their service than to have our local heroes from our fire companies, police and first aid welcome them along with their family, neighbors and friends,” said Reina. “A homecoming means coming home to where your heart is, so please join me and let’s make 2012 a year to remember for our heroes as they come home to Jackson.”

Those interested can contact Samantha Novak at the mayor’s office at 732- 928-1200, ext. 211, to advise of a returning soldier. Awelcome home form can also be completed online at www.jacksontwpnj.net, then click on “Welcome Home Ceremony Form.”
