Fossils Car Club announces show, cruise schedule
The Jackson-based Fossils Car Club has announced its car show and cruise night schedule for the 2012 season.
The club’s annual rockin’ 1950s-style car show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 (rain date May 27) at iPlay America, Schanck Road at Route 9, Freehold Township. The registration fee is $15 for show cars. The show is open to all American made cars and light trucks built prior to 1987.
Trophies will be given to Best in Class and Specialty Class winners. Free car show T-shirts will be given to the first 50 pre-registrants. Proceeds from the car show will benefit children’s charities and the Ocean County Vo-Tech scholarship fund. A cruise night will be held at iPlay America on the last Friday of each month from April through September from 5 to 9:30 p.m. AllAmerican-made cars and light trucks are welcome. Each cruise night will be held rain or shine and will feature oldies music from the Fossils Car Club’s own Wolfman Jerry.
According to a press release, 2012 will mark the 24th year the Fossils have held car shows and cruise night events. Through voluntary donations received from attendees and supporters over the years, the Fossils have raised more than $100,000 for children’s charities.
This year’s charitable causes are Providence House, Jackson ROTC Toys for Tots, Camp Quality (an organization that provides year-round support and programming for children with cancer and their families), Rein Dancer Therapeutic Riding Center, Special Olympics and the Ocean County Vo-Tech Scholarship Fund.
